I have to admit that it was years I didn’t read a whole, whole biography. Every page!
I am little by little working on Jobs’, but it was too bulky to carry to the beach.
This has been a very “productive” summer, which I’m very grateful for. I was working on two important projects that had my neurons constantly working, so OPEN’s pages allowed me to check out once in a while.
Be it that I love tennis, have played it since I’m 4 I would say, or that any day at any time you step into my parents’ house, there’s a tennis match on tv!
All the language, places and names were familiar, and this helps to like something.
So let me share some of the things that were inspiring to me and can be applied to everyone and everything in life.
And for this article to not be so long, I’ll try to be succinct and pick just three things.
So, yes, for all of you that have read it, I know there’s a lot, lot more!
$11. Agassi found his purpose in life.
For who hasn’t read the book, when Agassi was a kid, he hated tennis.
Later in his life, when he found his purpose, liking or not tennis wasn’t any more and issue. The meaning of playing tennis changed completely. He played to build the schools to help kids that needed an education. He played for his family. The family that he built and help the people he loved.
Researchers like Shawn Achor are proving how having a clear purpose in life makes you be happier.
What is the purpose for doing the things you do?
$12. Build your own “team”
For team I mean it’s true definition: A group of people with a full set of complementary skillsrequired to complete a task, job, or project…a team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense ofmutualcommitmentcreatessynergy, thus generating performance greater than thesum of the performance of its individual members.
Agassi surrounded himself with people that he chose and where aligned with him, his values and goals.
Your values. Pick people, activities, clients, partners, that are aligned with YOUR values and your purpose. Don’t just take the one you have because that’s your comfort zone, but build it.
Create it.
$13. You don’t have to be perfect.
Not every shot has to be a winning shot.
I know people, companies, projects, that in waiting to do things perfectly, delay deliveries or cause internal conflicts.
Measure your standards and your energy.
What is not perfect for you is perfect for someone else.
This doesn’t mean that you don’t have to always do your best, it means that sometimes things are perfect as they are, just put things in perspective and be more strategic.
